Ushaw is a former Catholic Seminary, which until 2011 trained men and boys for the Catholic priesthood in the North of England. With a history spreading back more than 200 years, and roots in colleges much older than that. A successor of the English College at Douai, Ushaw houses some of the most beautiful Pugin architecture, as well as St. Cuthbert's Chapel with its beautiful stained glass windows.

Ushaw has since opened it's doors to the public, allowing anyone who wants to visit our wonderful halls, enjoy the great food in the Refectory, or view our array of exhibitions the chance to do so. In 2014, Ushaw began a successful programme of events, with performances from some of the best talent the region has to offer, as well as those from further afield.
