How do I get to Ushaw?
Directions can be found on our Visitor Information page. Sat Nav users should use the postcode DH7 7DW.
Are you open all year round?
We're open all year round for meetings, conferences and group tours. We're open from April to October to the general public (free entry), Wednesday to Saturday from 11am - 5pm. The Chapels and some of our exhibitions are currently only open from 1pm. The Refectory Cafe is open from 11am.
Do you have food and drink facilities?
Our café is open from Wednesday to Saturday 11am - 5pm for hot and cold drinks and snacks alongside our delicious afternoon teas. Full catering facilities are available for meetings, conferences and events. Food and drink prices are displayed in the café. All dietary requirements can be catered for.
Is there disabled access?
There are steps at the front entrance of Ushaw, but the Business School Entrance to Ushaw benefits from level access and, with the exception of the library and mortuary chapel, all areas open to the public are wheelchair friendly and completely accessible
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are welcome in the grounds, but please do pick up after them. Only assistance/guide dogs are allowed in our buildings.
Do I need to book in advance?
Guided tours, group tours (for parties of 10 or more) and library visits need to be booked in advance. Access to the rest of the buildings and grounds is subject to the times mentioned above.
Where can I see your upcoming events?
Upcoming events are listed on our Conferences and Events page, and leaflets are generally available in both the reception and main entrance at Ushaw. Some of our events are subject to change.
