Support Us

As a nonprofit organisation, Ushaw always welcomes the support of the community in making the picturesque grounds and beautiful buildings as great as they are for the visiting public. Without such donations, much of the heritage may be lost. Below you will find information leading to various pages about supporting us at Ushaw.

There are various roles for volunteers to fill at Ushaw, from retail staff to tour guides, as well as helping in our gardens. Ushaw relies on much of this support from our generous community.

If you want to help out as part of a friendly and helpful team, visit our page.

Friends of Ushaw

Formed in 2016, The Friends of UShaw group serves to support the work of the Trustees, in partnership with Ushaw College, in maintaining, developing and enhancing the beautiful and historic chapels, buildings, gardens and grounds of Ushaw. Anyone can join the group, with a modest monthly fee.

For more information, visit our page.

Ushaw is currently developing its cultural and heritage programme in order to enable more people to engage with the wonderful buildings and collections in its care. We rely on funding and donations to continue and expand our work and in particular to run events and maintain our lovely grounds, as well as care for collections.

St. Cuthbert's Society

The St. Cuthbert’s Society, a registered charity in the UK, was initially founded on the 19th July 1854, 46 years after the first students walked from Crook Hall to their new home at Ushaw. St Cuthbert’s society continues to this day, and all those who have a special place in their heart for Ushaw are encouraged to apply for membership.
