Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens is an independent charity set in a majestic estate of 500 acres, in the heart of the Durham countryside - established as a Catholic Seminary in the nineteenth century, with origins dating back over 450 years to Douai in France.
Ushaw has acres of grounds to explore; an action packed programme of family activities and games; outdoor art exhibitions; an alfresco cafe; live music and entertainment - it really is perfect place for families to explore and enjoy throughout the seasons.
Indoors (once permitted) our glorious Georgian and Victorian Gothic architecture; beautiful nineteenth-century chapels; and stunning reception rooms are complimented by an eclectic programme of art and live entertainment.
We have an ongoing programme of exhibitions, there is always something new to see...
Ushaw is home to a large community of Artists, Craftspeople and Small Businesses.
