Education & Learning

Brand New To Ushaw!

To celebrate the re-opening of our Main House, we've developed a learning trail for children. Come and grab a treasure map, keep an eye out for letter clues and discover Ushaw’s fascinating history along the way.

Family Activities

Bored? Not much going on? Too much going on? Our Education Officer has put together some fun videos, engaging crafts and distracting activities for you and your family to have a go at at home. Share your creations with us on our social media channels

@ushawdurham and keep checking back for new videos.

Fantastic Beasts

For World Book Day 4th March 2021, we delve into Ushaw's historic 'Big Library' and discover the fantastic beasts that are lurking between the pages of our very old books and even clinging to the walls!

Find the materials you will need to create your own hybrid creature and set it loose on the world, right here:

Cabinets of Curiosity

Do you own anything that is just so cool it should be in a museum? Dive into Ushaw's history, curate your own museum exhibition featuring things you find around your home and learn how to collect, display and just outright lie about them to your unsuspecting visitors.

This project is funded by the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage. The Culture Recovery Fund is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England, using funds provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

For the time being; our bookable school visits are on hold but we are looking forward to welcoming classes of schoolchildren back to Ushaw as soon as it is safe to do so. Until then, take care everyone.
