Durham Singers are a 40-voice chamber choir based in Durham, singing a wide range of music from the renaissance to the present day. We perform several concerts per year of mostly unaccompanied repertoire, along with an annual concert of a larger scale work, usually with our period instrument orchestra.
Programme to include:
William Mundy: Vox Patris caelestiPalestrina: Missa Papae Marcelli, two pieces of music written at almost exactly the same time, one for a Pope and one for a Tudor Queen, give a fascinating snapshot of the contrasting thoughts about music across Renaissance Catholic Europe.
